A wildlife programme that brings your local school to the local landscape — free to schools, funded by a local business sponsor.
How it works
Nature in Schools is a year-round programme that installs wildlife habitats at your school — bird boxes, feeders, bat boxes, hedgehog houses and more — and builds them into a rich, season-by-season curriculum for your pupils. The aim is to get more primary school children to engage with nature and learn about the wildlife on their doorstep.
The programme costs nothing to your school. A local business sponsor covers everything, and we work with them to make sure it's a partnership your whole school community knows about and values.
We supply the equipment, the food, the curriculum resources and the ongoing support. If your school in onboard and can build this into your annual curriculum then the children do the rest.
Every school is different
No two schools are the same, and no two programmes should be either.
Whether you're a rural school on the edge of farmland, an urban primary with a pocket-sized playground, or a school with ancient woodland on your doorstep — the wildlife around you is different, the habitats that need supporting are different, and the stories your children can learn are different too.
That's why we don't offer a fixed package. Before we set anything up, we'll talk with you about where you are, what wildlife is already in your area, and what habitats are under pressure locally. Then we'll put together a programme that's genuinely rooted in your place — whether that means focusing on garden birds and hedgehogs, bats and invertebrates, or habitat creation, such as tree planting.
The aim is always the same: to connect your pupils to real, local nature — and to make your school a small but meaningful part of habitat restoration in your area.
What's included
Depending on what's right for your school and your sponsor, a Nature in Schools programme can include:
- Bird feeders, feed and ongoing resupply throughout the year
- Nest boxes, positioned correctly for the species most likely to use them
- Bat boxes, with species information and curriculum resources
- Hedgehog houses and habitat guidance
- A full seasonal activity schedule, mapped to the curriculum
- Species identification guides and classroom resources
- Hygiene and care routines built into the programme — children learn why cleanliness matters for wildlife health
- Habitat creation, such as tree or meadow planting
- Guests speakers to visit your school
- The story of supplemental feeding — what wildlife naturally eats, why it matters, and what habitats need to exist for that food to be there
- Regular support and seasonal check-ins from us
- Termly updates for your sponsor, including pupil sightings data, photos and quotes

Pricing
Programmes start from £395, with the cost covered entirely by your school's sponsor.

If you're a local business looking to do something genuinely meaningful for your community then Nature in Schools gives you a year-round presence in a local school, a real conservation impact, and a connection with the next generation of nature lovers.
You'll receive termly updates with photos, pupil quotes and species sightings data. Press releases or visits to the school can be planned in advance and at the end of the year, you'll have something to show that goes well beyond a donation.
